While I rue the violence, I must admit that I don't think the assailant could have found a more deserving target in Italy.

Well, I guess he can't change the laws to protect himself this time. What a shame to only way to express disgust with this character is physically.
Questa volta non potrà cambiare la legge per proteggersi. E' una vergogna che non si trovi un altro modo per esprimere disgusto per questo personaggio.

I wouldn't be surprised if he planned the attack himself: he often tries to characterize himself as a victim. The real victims are the people of Italy whom he continues to cheat, debase, and deceive.
Non mi sorprenderei se fosse stato lui stesso ad organizzare l'attacco: ha spesso tentato di vittimizzarsi. Le vere vittime sono gli italiani che continua ad ingannare, svilire e imbrogliare.

politically embattled, now physically assaulted -- the upside? public sympathy. This will, unfortunately, put Silvio in the people's hearts again. This passes 'the bullshit' test, but I can't help wondering why his security patrol would let a Head of State stand on the running board of his car and look around AFTER the assault that drew blood. Maybe that's a function of the edit -- there's at least two 'cuts' in the sequence, and three clips -- which from the lensing and positions represent at least 2 different sources. There will be a tiny swell of support for a Prime Minister who literally 'took it on the chin.'
Dall'assedio politico all'assalto fisico. E alla fine? Pubblica simpatia. Questo porterà Silvio ancora una volta, sfortunatamente, nel cuore della gente. Sarà una cazzata, ma non riesco ad immaginare perché la scorta abbia lasciato che un capo di stato restasse in piedi sulla (non conosco la parola italiana per "running board", comunque si tratta di questo:

della macchina a guardarsi intorno dopo l'assalto. Magari è un'impressione causata dal montaggio - ci sono almeno due tagli nella sequenza e tre clip - che, data l'inquadratura e le posizioni, incorpora almeno due fonti differenti. Ci sarà un leggero (sarcastico, ndt)
moto di supporto per il presidente del consiglio che, letteralmente, "a piglià nto mussu".

Although I do NOT agree with any kind of violence, especially in a democracy, I can understand why he was a target. People are becoming ever more frustrated because he keeps buying his way out of criminal prosecution, and dragging Italy into the mud with him. The place is a mess, and all he can think about is saving his own skin. By the way, it seemed obvious to me that he wanted to show the blood on his face NOT to reassure the public that he was ok, but to get sympathy points for his self-perceived martyrdom. Pathetic.
Sebbene io disapprovi ogni genere di volenza, specialmente in una democrazia, posso capire perché è stato preso come bersaglio. La gente è sempre più frustrata perché continua a scappare dai processi con i suoi mezzucci, trascinando l'Italia nel fango assieme a lui. Tutto quello che può pensare di fare è salvarsi la pelle. Comunque a me sembra ovvio che abbia mostrato il sangue sulla sua faccia non per rassicurare il pubblico ma per guadagnare punti con il suo auto-percepito martirio. Patetico.

He has been punching Italians in the mouth with his disdain for justice for the last 15 years. We are all hoping he will leave the country and join some banana republic dictator friend, soon.

I also don't normally condone violence, but it's amazing that no one has hit this guy in the face before.
Anch'io normalmente condanno la violenza, ma mi sorprende il fatto che nessuno gliele abbia date sul muso prima d'ora.
